Giants Day in April

Moon, Cammie and her Build a Bear (dog) at the Giants vs. St. Louis game.

An easy day except on the wallet. After my first divorce it was 5 bucks to Park at Candlestick and 2 bucks to get into the bleachers. Of course the crowd was sparse, but that is becoming more of a reality this year than any other in recent Giants history.

Saturday it was $30 bucks just to park. The next time we take the Ferry from Larkspur or park in the Upper Sunset and take the Muni to the Park.

But I had subtle revenge coming into the park with multiple packs, ready for anything. Plenty of food and two bags of Giants-branded peanuts from Safeway (Thank you Mr. Magowen) that would have each cost as much as tickets inside the ballpark.

Unleashed Daughter with the digital and she managed, without any provocation, to capture the best story of the day (Cain;s 7 innings of brilliance being the other...before the Giants fell apart like an old Volkswagen at 250 mph). It was Steve Bowker's first day in the majors, and as many famous Giants players have done in the past he was the star...going 2 for 2 with a home run in the middle of a pitcher's duel.

The savvy Giants crown, knowing the history applauded loudly and long after the single (a dead giveaway...who does that for just any single?); then demanded a curtain call from the young man after the homer.

Here is the sequence as shot by Camille:
